If you don't know what to look for, it is hard to find safe and effective products?Because almost every company is claiming to offer organic products! But how can this be if the vast majority of them contain dyes, fragrances, wood alcohol and preservatives? It is hard enough to find a truly safe product out there, let alone an effective product. So, lets find out what to look for on ingredient labels.

What is Organic?

Never mind the definition that is commonly understood as organic. Although it is important that no chemical fertilizers are put on plants, is that what should really bother us? No. We want the whole product to come from nature. Who cares that the only a few "organic" ingredients did not get fumigated if the rest of the ingredients are completely synthetic. That would be like being real particular to strain out a gnat out of the water you drink, but at the same time not worrying about the arsenic it contains!

Companies are not really trying to deceive the consumer. They are simply offering products with enough organic ingredients so that they can label it as organic. Face it, Natural Ingredients are so much more expensive than synthetic chemicals. Especially because natural ingredients really have a very short shelf life. In order to be able to make a profit from a product that is offered for less than fifteen dollars, after manufacturing and other expenses, the ingredients can't cost any more than around twenty five cents. That is the bottom line. Natural ingredients simply cost more.

Can you counterfeit your body with synthetics?
The vast majority of companies use propylene glycol as a humectant in their products. What is a humectant, it is an ingredient that imparts water to the skin. But propylene glycol is rejected by the skin. Why? It is counterfeit. Substituted for hyaluronic acid which the body readily accepts. It is similar to printing your own dollar bill and giving it to the bank clerk. She will reject it immediately, because it is not the real thing! Our body does the same thing. It accepts only natural beneficial ingredients.

How to determine which ingredients are beneficial?

You can follow this simple rule of thumb. If you wouldn't eat it, why put it on your skin. Think about it, everything we put on our skin eventually will be absorbed and enter into the blood stream. Therefore, find a cosmetics manufacturer that packs a product full of the most beneficial ingredients. If they spend the majority of their profits on ingredients, instead of advertising, you know that you have found a manufacturer that produces a good product.
